Bringing Inner Values to Life: A Day of Learning, Creativity and Connection
VIHASA Inner Values Series | Mpumalanga | 3 February 2026
There is something powerful that happens when people from different areas of healthcare come together with an open mind and a willingness to reflect. This was beautifully demonstrated during a recent VIHASA Inner Values Module in Mpumalanga, where two diverse groups of healthcare professionals and auxiliary staff embraced the opportunity to explore the values that shape their work and relationships.
The first group brought together an impressive range of healthcare leadership and professional expertise. Among the participants were CEOs, the Director of Rehabilitation and Disabilities, pharmacists, an audiologist, a physiotherapist, a Matron and professional nurses.
Each participant arrived with their own experiences and responsibilities, yet the Inner Values Module created a shared space where everyone could step away from their busy roles and reconnect with the human values at the heart of healthcare.
The discussions and activities encouraged participants to reflect on the importance of values such as compassion, respect, cooperation, positivity and care. These values are not simply concepts—they influence how healthcare teams communicate, support one another and ultimately serve patients and communities across Mpumalanga.
The second group brought a wonderfully different energy to the day. Made up of auxiliary staff, the group was dynamic, joyful and enthusiastic. Their energy and willingness to participate brought a special vibrancy to the session.
One of the highlights was their eagerness to present their masterpiece, demonstrating how the Inner Values experience had inspired them to express their learning creatively. Their enthusiasm reflected the power of experiential learning, where participants do more than simply listen—they engage, create, share and discover.
The group also expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the Inner Values Module, reminding us that meaningful learning can take many forms and that every member of a healthcare team has an important contribution to make.
From senior leadership and highly skilled professionals to auxiliary staff, the sessions highlighted an important VIHASA message: every person matters, and every person carries values that can contribute to a more compassionate and connected healthcare environment.
The sessions in Mpumalanga were a celebration of diversity, teamwork and shared humanity. By creating spaces where healthcare workers can pause, reflect and reconnect with their inner values, VIHASA continues to support the wellbeing of those who dedicate themselves to caring for others.
When people connect with the values within them, those values can become a source of strength, connection and positive change for everyone around them.
