Discovering Inner Values: A Meaningful Session with Intern Learners in Mpumalanga
VIHASA Inner Values Series | Mpumalanga | 11 February 2026
As part of VIHASA’s ongoing commitment to bringing values-based learning into workplaces and communities across South Africa, a short Inner Values session was held for intern learners at the Laduma Head Office in Mpumalanga
Approximately 50 interns attended the session, creating a vibrant and engaging space for young people to pause, reflect and consider the values that shape their personal and professional lives.
For many young people entering the workplace, the internship period is an important time of learning and discovery. It is not only an opportunity to develop practical skills and gain experience, but also a chance to understand themselves, their strengths and the kind of contribution they would like to make in the future.
The Inner Values session offered the interns an opportunity to explore these deeper aspects of personal development. Through reflection and participation, they were encouraged to consider the values that are important to them and how these values can influence their choices, relationships and approach to their work.
With around 50 learners in attendance, the session brought together a diverse group of young people at an exciting stage of their lives. Creating opportunities for reflection can help interns recognise that professional development is not only about what we know or what we can do—it is also about who we are and how we choose to engage with others.
Values such as respect, compassion, cooperation, positivity and responsibility can make a meaningful difference in the workplace. When these qualities are consciously developed, they can contribute to healthier relationships, stronger teamwork and a more positive working environment.
For VIHASA, sessions such as this are an important part of nurturing people from within. By introducing young professionals to the importance of inner values early in their working lives, we can encourage them to carry these principles into their future careers, families and communities.
The session at Laduma Head Office was a wonderful opportunity to connect with the next generation of professionals in Mpumalanga. When young people are given the space to discover what matters within themselves, they can begin to shape the kind of future they want to create around them.
VIHASA looks forward to continuing this journey of reflection, connection and values-based development across Mpumalanga and beyond.
